How to choose a social media company in Iowa

What to decide before you call, which questions separate one firm from another, and why each of the 11 social media companies on this list is here. Each was checked against its own site and at least one independent source. Nobody pays to be ranked.

What you are hiring

A social media company is hired to run channels: make the content, publish it, reply, and often buy the distribution. The engagement is the calendar and the person who keeps it, not a stack of login credentials.

Decide up front whether you need posting, original creative, community management, paid social, or some combination. Those are different jobs and they are priced differently.

Decide this before you call

Write these down before you talk to a social media company. A vague brief produces a vague price.

  • List the channels that matter to customers, and drop the ones you are keeping out of guilt.
  • Say who approves a post, and how fast they can do it. A slow approval process wastes a retainer.
  • Decide whether paid social is in this contract or with whoever already buys your media.
  • Bring examples of posts you think are good, including competitors. Taste is hard to write down after the kickoff.

Questions worth asking

Ask each firm the same list. The useful part is the difference in the answers, not a polished version of the question.

  • Who writes, who designs, and who is allowed to reply as the brand?
  • How many posts a month are included, and what counts as a revision?
  • What do you need from us each week, and what happens if we miss it?
  • How is paid social fee'd, and is the ad budget separate?
  • Can we see the last ninety days of a comparable account, including posts that did not work?

Hiring in Iowa

Iowa is more than one city. The city on a profile is the city the firm states. City pages on this site only exist where at least two listed firms share a city. Two firms in different cities are both here because they do this work in Iowa, not because they are interchangeable.

Ask whether the person who would do the work sits in the city on the profile.

How to use this list

Write the job in one paragraph. Keep the two or three firms whose reason for being here matches that job.

Open each profile. It says who leads the firm, work they can show, and a price if they published one. If they did not publish a price, the profile shows a typical estimate and says it is not a quote.

Then ask each firm for one piece of work like yours, and the name of the person who would do it.

The order weighs how long the firm has done the work, clients it can name, its size, and how clear its specialism is. Nobody pays to be ranked.

One card is marked Featured. It is paid placement for Fracs, which shares this list's publisher. It sits outside the ranking.

If a profile leaves out a leader, a price, or a founding year, no source stated it.

Free · no obligation

Describe the job. One social media company writes back.

Tell us what you sell, what is not working, and what done looks like. We read it and ask one provider — from this list, or from the publisher’s bench — to contact you within a business day. Asking is free. You do not have to hire them. Nobody else gets what you wrote.

When

Sending shares what you wrote with the one provider we match you to. How that works.
